Why do you use Twitter? Just for fun or do you have some idea or strategy for it? Depending on what type of twitter user you are you will probably have a different agenda and strategy for your tweeting. In this post we will in short discuss the importance on following the right people on Twitter independent on what strategy or agenda you have with your tweeting.
Who are the right people to follow
In order to follow you gotta find someone willing to lead. There are no interest in following people who do not tweet. So where to start?
Authorities
First, find the authorities in your area of interest, authorities that will tweet and drive the debate within that area. You probably have a good sense on who these people are. When you have identified them, browser through their list of users they follow. They will probably follow people who they believe has something to say in the area of interest where themselves are seen as authorities.
The Hidden Pearls
As well as in the blogosphere, you will find people who you have not heard of but they share your area of interest and they actually have pretty cool opinions on those areas. I believe this is the strength of the twitter community and the blogosphere. Any person willing to spread and share his/her opinion will hopefully and probably get followers and readers and find platforms for spreading his or her knowledge, ideas and ramblings.
Summary
In order to follow, you need leaders, leaders can be found in the authorities section of the twitter user family. You may also find leaders that enables you to grow in your area if interest among people not yet known to the bigger audience. Twitter is a democratic tool that enables anyone to share his or her thoughts and ideas to the whole world. If you follow the right people, learn and start sharing, maybe you become the next person that is a must follow for other people. Keep up the tweeting.
